Overview
Carl is a partner in the firm’s German private capital practice. He advises private equity houses and financial sponsor clients on their M&A deals, strategic investments and joint ventures.
Carl also advises sponsors on the management of their existing portfolio companies, including on management investment plans, equity financings, liquidity events and add-on transactions.
Carl regularly works on complex cross-border transactions and has gained first-hand insights having spent six months as a secondee with a financial sponsor client.
Recently, Carl has been recognised by JUVE as one of the most influential “40 under 40” lawyers in Corporate law in Germany.

Education and qualifications
Carl has studied law at the University of Freiburg and at the University of Cambridge. He holds a PhD from the University of Mannheim.
He speaks German and English.
