Maximilian advises on a wide range of financial instruments and capital markets transactions, including repackaging transactions, bespoke derivatives, and structured notes.

Maximilian specialises in structured issuance programmes, in particular for retail investors.

He also advises on financial regulatory matters in relation to EU law, Brexit and the financial technology sector.

  • An European credit institution: advising on establishing an issuance programme for warrants linked to various underlyings.
  • An Asian payment service provider: advising on the European extension of their offering.
  • OTCDerivNet: advising in relation to the establishment of SwapAgent, a platform simplifying the processing, margining and settlement of non-cleared rates and FX derivatives.
  • A CFD platform provider: establishing their European platform for contracts for difference (CFDs), options and certificates.
  • A global broker-dealer:transfer of their derivatives portfolio from their London hub to the new Frankfurt base following Brexit.
  • Eurex Clearing: advising on the expansion of the clearing offering of FX and cross-currency swaps and securities lending, including client-clearing features.

Professional experience

Maximilian is qualified as a Solicitor of England & Wales and Solicitor of Ireland.

He joined Linklaters in 2018 and is Managing Associate since 2024. Maximilian has a German law background and worked in the firm’s Hong Kong and London offices in addition to time spent seconded to the Derivatives Legal Department of two global broker dealers.
