Podcast: Decision of the German constitutional court on the ECB’s PSPP

The German Federal Constitutional Court verdict on ECB’s Public Sector Purchase Programme ("PSPP") earlier this month is at the centre of current legal and political controversies. The German Court however vests itself with the power to review EU law to prevent infringements of the German constitutional identity. The impact of the decision with a national court overruling a decision of the European Court of Justice (“ECJ”) has the power to lead to a clash of competencies having the effect of a serious constitutional crises in the EU. The end of this conflict is open but to gather the facts, we have published a brief note on the ruling including a high-level overview of some of the reactions to the decision.
